Past students who have been selected to be in the All State H.S. Choir:
OMEA sponsors the Oregon All-State audition process to promote students' dedication to their musical knowledge and skill. All-State is the highest honor an Oregon music student can receive. There is an all state choir, band and orchestra. Individual musicians go through a recorded audition process that is sent in to ranked with hundreds of other auditions. The highest-ranking musicians qualify to perform in a OMEA All-State music group. These All-State students participate in two to three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the annual state OMEA Clinic/Convention, which culminates in a performance at the Hult Center in Eugene.
The American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) National Honor Choir is similar to the OMEA All State Choir except it includes students from all over the country. The audition process is a little more challenging and the requirements are more intense (because it is a national honor choir). This year's conference takes place in Minneapolis in March 2017. |
