This morning we worshipped with Zion Lutheran Church in Surrey BC. It was their confirmation today so it was a largely attended service as 6 students were being confirmed! It was a very welcoming congregation and a great, eclectic service. We all had a great worship experience. I'll post pictures of the sanctuary tomorrow. After service we raced over to the Chan Center at University of British Columbia and watched an amazing concert by the Vancouver Bach Children's Choirs. It was a BEAUTiFuL hall and a wonderful performance. Afterwards we headed over to Granville Island, where we spent some time walking around the public market and shopping for souvenirs. Tonight we are with host families and/or staying at the church. We sing for Cloverdale Christian School in the morning and then head back across the border. It's been a fun time in Canada but we are ready to get back to familiar territory!

Day 2 started with crossing the border into Canada...with NO problems, which was great! We drove through Downtown Vancouver and went to the Vancouver Aquarium, which is Canada's largest Aquarium. We saw Beluga whales, dolphins, jellyfish and a lot more. Afterwards we took a stroll through Stanley Park, which is a HUGE park (larger than Central Park in NYC) in the middle of downtown Vancouver. Although it started out raining, it quickly cleared up and we had beautiful views of the city. We took a group picture in front of the Totem Poles and had a nice walk before we headed back to our hotel. Tomorrow we start our day by worshiping with Zion Lutheran Church in Surrey. It's their Confirmation Sunday so it should be a joyous morning! Afterwards we are going to go SEE a choir perform, the Vancouver Bach Children's Choir, and then spend some more time sight-seeing in Vancouver. Below are some pictures from our day (and yesterday), some of which I stole off some of the student's facebook pages :) Have a great Saturday night! After an EARLY morning and a long day of traveling, we arrived in Lake Stevens for the first performance of our trip. The venue was a gym with GREAT acoustics and a FANTASTIC audience of about 100 students, which just energized our group for an INCREDIBLE first performance. I am so proud of these students and the musicianship they have developed throughout this year. This trip is truly going to be a celebration of what they have accomplished musically both individually and as a group. We just got to our hotel in Bellingham, WA where we will have a relaxing evening and then head out early tomorrow to cross the border into Canada! |
