We had a spectacular, final day today. We sang at Bethlehem Lutheran School this morning (Nathan Carnahans school). Then we spent the middle of the day in Virginia City with an underground mine tour and an impromptu concert at a beautiful church. Then we met and rehearsed with the choir from Sierra Lutheran High School for tonight's concert, which was a ton of fun! After an amazing soup supper, we sang at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran church for their Lenten service and then a short concert afterwards. It was a gorgeous space and was a great final concert on our tour. It's been a great week, but we are all looking forward to going home and sharing our music with family and friends next week!

We were woken up last night by a fire alarm at the hotel. We were evacuated and fire trucks came...but it was just a malfunction, no one was hurt and no fire. Despite the late night we had two great concerts today. First, we sang at Town and Country Lutheran School...what a beautiful space! We have been so blessed to sing in amazing spaces this trip, both visually and acoustically pleasing. Then we had a chance to tour old Sacramento underground. We even gave our tour guide a mini private concert. In the afternoon we sang at Elk Grove Lutheran Highschool, which was one of our best performances so far! Follow these links to see some videos: Finally, we drove across state lines to Carson City, the capital of Nevada. We arm wrestled for tacos, then met our host families. We are staying with host families tonight and are looking forward to our final two tour concerts tomorrow. What an amazing day! We started the morning with concerts at the two West Portal school campuses...great kids! After lunch we sang at Grace Cathedral. Wow, what an unbelievable experience. Hoping to post more on this tomorrow, with some comments by our students. We ended the day with a joint concert with Concordia Portlands Christi Crux at Zion in Piedmont. Overall it was an incredible day, but we are exhausted! Lots of sleeping happening tonight in our hotel in Sacramento, before another great day tomorrow...night! We spent a beautiful Saturday touring Alcatraz Island, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, then having dinner at a delicious Chinese food restaurant. We followed it up with some Ghiradelli ice cream!! Today we sang for the first time at West Portal Lutheran Church...what a beautiful sanctuary! We spent the afternoon in Berkeley and then had some down time. Looking forward to a full day tomorrow with four concerts! Good night!! Made it safe to San Francisco after a beautiful ride through Northern California. Closed the day with some worship led by our choir president, Nate Darlington. Looking forward to a fun day exploring the city tomorrow! We are almost ready to go! Food is purchased, rehearsing is done...just need to pack our bags! Looking forward to our 7am departure tomorrow morning! Check back soon for more updates! |
